If you’re starting your own business as a beauty therapist or aesthetics practitioner, choosing the correct insurance is one of the most important steps you’ll take. Fingers crossed everything will run smoothly and you’ll soon have a portfolio of happy customers, but if things do go wrong, the consequences can be disastrous if you’re not covered.
It’s an idea to take some time to think about the kind of services you’re going to be offering and the different types of beauty therapy insurance covers available. Our specialist team will be happy to talk you through our insurance products to help ensure you choose the best cover for your practice. As long as you have an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and 6 months’ experience in treatments that penetrate the skin, we’ll be able to organise insurance cover for your business.
Our insurance for beauty therapists
The most common kinds of insurance for beauty therapists protect against claims of malpractice in negligence while carrying out cosmetic treatments. Whether you have your own salon or you visit your clients in their homes, you may be liable for a costly claim if a treatment doesn’t go as planned.
A mistake, allergy or accident can easily lead to a claim that can cost you or your business, as clients can seek compensation for everything from pain caused to scarring.
Our insurance products cover general beauty treatments such as:
- Waxing
- Brow Lamination
- Piercing
- Facials
- Massage
- Hairdressing
- Spray tans and many more common cosmetic services
- Holistic treatments
We can also cover:
- Sunbeds
- Injectable treatments
- Dermal fillers
- Anti-wrinkle procedures
- Vitamin injections
- Skin Boosters
- SPMU
- Microblading
- Laser Treatments
- PDO Threads
- Prescribing Services
- Radio Frequency
- PRP
- Training Academies – with a teaching qualification and 12 months experience
You can always update your policy if you need us to cover additional treatments over time. That means you’ll be free to carry out your professional beauty therapy services with peace of mind that you’re covered if things go awry.
If you’re going to be working with a team, we can offer insurance to cover you and any colleagues who will be carrying out treatments at your practice. We will just need full details of each practitioner’s training and experience level.
Our Insurance for Salons and Clinics
If you open a salon or clinic, you will have a financial risk exposure in the event of an incident at the premises, for example a fire or flood. If you have contents, stock or spent money improving the premises you are renting then you should consider a policy to provide cover in the event of a loss.
If you are employing staff, you will also have a legal liability under the Employers Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 to arrange suitable insurance. If you were found not to have this cover in place, you could be fined up to £2,500 per day by The Health and Safety Executive (HSE). This cover can be included within this package type policy.
In the event of a loss and if your premises had to close whilst it was reinstated, a policy could provide you with cover for loss of profit whilst your business is in down time. We can offer a very competitive package policy for you to consider.
Our Insurance for Products Liability
You should consider Products Liability insurance if your business designs, manufactures or supplies a physical product that is sold or given away for free. Your business may be held legally responsible for any injuries to people or damage to property caused by a faulty product.
You can be held liable for faulty products event if you did not manufacture them. Product liability insurance protects you against the cost of compensation for;
- Personal injuries caused by your faulty product
- Loss of or damage to property caused by your faulty product
- Unforeseeable circumstances such as product faults that your quality control system could not identify
Top training academies choose our beauty therapy insurance
We work with many of the top training academies in the UK, including Aesthetic Training Academy of the Year, Cosmetic Couture, Lipology who have just launched a Safer Ambassador scheme to improve safety in the industry and Enhance Me.
We also worked exclusively with L3 Matrix who built a learning programme for new practitioners for their theory studies. This entry level into aesthetics was agreed with the underwriters as a safe route into injectable treatments.
Since launching the product 5 years ago, our knowledge of the industry has gone from strength to strength. One of the biggest challenges facing beauty therapists is that the aesthetics industry is ever changing, with new treatments and methods being launched almost weekly.
It’s important to us that we stay one step ahead of evolving products to be able to offer you the unique cover options you need. With this in mind, we are constantly teaching ourselves about the industry’s latest advancements, sharing news within the team to keep ourselves relevant.
